Aries Cerat — Phono Stages
Hermes
The entry to absolute reference analogue playback.
The Hermes stands as the most accessible entry point into the uncompromising world of Aries Cerat analogue playback. While it is designed with an emphasis on simplicity, its architecture remains sufficiently complex to deliver the visceral, end-game performance expected from the brand. By optimising the signal path through pure single-ended vacuum tube circuitry, it avoids the compromises often found in more complex, cost-constrained topologies.
At the core of the Hermes is a three-stage tube gain circuit, which provides the foundation for its transparent and flowing presentation. To handle the most demanding low-level signals without degradation, the design incorporates a proprietary E-Sut booster stage utilising space-charge tubes. This ingenious solution provides an additional 14dB of gain, ensuring that even the most difficult cartridges are amplified with total integrity.
Constructed in a dual-chassis configuration, the Hermes physically isolates its sensitive gain stages from the power supply’s magnetic fields and mechanical vibration. The result is a sound that is rich, harmonically dense, and remarkably silent, allowing the listener to experience the true emotional weight and texture of their vinyl collection.
Key Features
01
Space-Charge E-Sut Booster
A proprietary gain stage using space-charge tubes to amplify extremely weak signals by 14dB without noise or degradation.
02
Dual-Chassis Isolation
Separates the power supply into its own enclosure to eliminate stray magnetic fields and EMI from the gain stage.
03
Discrete LCR RIAA
Utilises a precision discrete LCR network with custom-made coils for accurate and dynamic equalisation.
04
Supercapacitor PSU
The E-Sut booster is powered by a high-capacity supercapacitor bank acting as a virtual battery for a silent noise floor.

Chapter 01
Design Philosophy
The Hermes follows a strict mandate of signal integrity and magnetic interference management. By utilising simple, single-ended circuits instead of complex, multi-stage topologies, the design minimises potential distortions and maintains a direct, energetic connection between the cartridge and the listener.

Chapter 02
The E-Sut Technology
Amplifying extremely weak signals without adding noise is the ultimate challenge in phono design. The Hermes solves this with a special booster stage using space-charge tubes, which provide a unique load to the cartridge that sits between purely resistive and current-based sinking, allowing for unparalleled micro-detail retrieval.

Chapter 03
Sonic Signature
The Hermes delivers a performance characterised by its natural flow and emotional transparency. It manages to combine the robust dynamic slam and solidity of a reference analogue system with the harmonic richness and bloom that only a carefully tuned, all-tube design can provide.
