Aries Cerat — Speakers

Aurora

A monumental achievement in time-aligned horn loudspeaker engineering.

The Aries Cerat Aurora stands as an absolute statement in uncompromising acoustic performance, rewriting the rules of horn loudspeaker design. Emerging from an ambitious design exploration by founder Stavros Danos, this monumental system brings the brand's legendary over-engineered philosophy directly into the listening room. It scales down the radical technologies of their flagship Contendo system to create a more integrated, yet equally breathtaking, architectural masterpiece. Every element of the speaker is constructed to eradicate internal resonance and structural colourations entirely. The upper frequencies are handled by a custom-developed, horn-loaded dipole ribbon tweeter that delivers flat response from three kilohertz upwards, paired with a massive five-axis milled midrange horn. This solid ply and aluminium structure features walls up to ten centimetres thick, providing a perfectly inert acoustic launchpad for the bespoke compression driver. Sonically, the system functions as a true time-aligned point source across all three axes, wrapping the listener in a seamless, holographic soundstage. The presentation balances a deep, effortless authority with an eerie transparency that exposes the finest micro-details without a trace of electronic haze. It reproduces the natural resonance of live instruments and vocals with exceptional speed, making the physical speakers dissolve entirely from the room.

Key Features

01

Diffraction-Less Midrange Horn

Milled via five-axis machinery with walls up to ten centimetres thick, the stacked ply and solid aluminium horn covers a wide range from 280Hz to 3000Hz without resonant colouration.

02

Dipole Horn-Loaded Ribbon

Developed in collaboration with Raal, the flat-foil pure aluminium ribbon delivers pristine high-frequency resolution and flat response above three kilohertz with unmatched time-domain performance.

03

Virtual Point Source Bass Cube

Four twelve-inch paper cone drivers are arranged in an open-backed hybrid loading cube, forming a virtual single driver positioned precisely at the acoustic centre of the enclosure.

04

Bluetooth-Controlled Analogue Crossover

A sophisticated network of multi-tap attenuation transformers and relays allows real-time acoustic adjustments via a smartphone application, operating entirely within the analogue domain.

05

Integrated 250-Watt Amplification

The active bass module features a dedicated internal amplifier to provide immense low-frequency headroom, which can be completely bypassed on the fly for pure passive operation.

Three-Axis Time Alignment

Chapter 01

Three-Axis Time Alignment

Achieving true time alignment across all three axes requires a radical departure from conventional driver placement. By positioning the four twelve-inch bass drivers across the sides of an open-backed cube, the Aurora forms a virtual low-frequency driver focused at the exact centre of the cube. The specialised midrange horn is offset precisely to align its acoustic centre with this same point, allowing the bass and midrange to radiate as a singular, perfectly synchronised point source. This physical symmetry eliminates proximity boundary modes and ensures exceptionally even room loading.
Bespoke Horn Architecture

Chapter 02

Bespoke Horn Architecture

The breathtaking visual geometry of the Aurora is dictated entirely by acoustic necessity. Its substantial midrange horn features a 45-centimetre bell coupled to a 15-centimetre solid aluminium end flare, painstakingly sculpted to maintain a constant curvature slope. This 360-degree diffraction-less design eliminates edge reflections that cause traditional horn colourations. Combined with a dipole ribbon tweeter that mimics the open dispersion of live acoustic events, the speaker delivers an incredibly low distortion profile even at extreme sound pressure levels.
Seat-Side Acoustic Calibration

Chapter 03

Seat-Side Acoustic Calibration

Recognising that no two listening spaces share the same acoustic signature, Aries Cerat integrated an advanced calibration system derived from their flagship Contendo model. Listeners can modify multiple independent filter parameters and driver levels directly from their listening position using a dedicated app. Rather than relying on digital signal processing, the system utilises a complex relay switching matrix paired with multi-tap transformers and passive line filters. This keeps the entire signal path purely analogue, preserving timbral authenticity while providing flexible room matching.
