EMOTIONAL LEAD Wire

Rare vintage conductors hand-polished with traditional Tamahagane steel for evocative analog playback.

The Analog Relax Emotional Lead Wire represents a radical approach to shell lead wire design, shifting focus from cold electrical measurements to pure musical expressiveness. Designed by Japanese artisans who prioritize harmonic beauty, it unlocks the latent emotion and subtle acoustic nuances trapped within record grooves. Positioned as the flagship vintage-conductor interconnect within Analog Relax's accessory collection, the Emotional Lead Wire series utilizes rare historical copper conductors dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Each wire undergoes a meticulous polishing process using Tamahagane steel blades—the traditional high-purity steel reserved for Japanese katana swords—to remove oxidation without damaging the conductor surface. Available in two distinct sound signatures—Mellow for vocal gloss and acoustic decay, and Soul for dense, authoritative rock and jazz dynamics—the Emotional Lead Wire delivers a lush, organic presentation. The midrange glows with lifelike presence, while high-frequency transients remain remarkably smooth and atmospheric.

Key Features

01

Selected Vintage Conductor Stock

Utilizes rare historical overseas wire stock dating from the 1880s through 1930s, offering unique dielectric and crystalline properties impossible to replicate with modern metal drawing.

02

Tamahagane Sword Steel Polishing

Hand-polished using traditional Japanese Tamahagane steel blades to strip surface oxide while preserving conductor integrity and musical flow.

03

Vintage Solder Alloy Blend

Terminated with 1940s–1950s vintage solder blended with natural pine resin, controlled to precise ratios for optimal tonal warmth and signal transfer.

04

Two Voicing Options

Offered in Mellow for silky vocals and classical acoustic gloss, and Soul for thick, punchy rhythm presentation suited to jazz and rock.

Traditional Tamahagane Craftsmanship

Chapter 01

Traditional Tamahagane Craftsmanship

Rather than relying on chemical strippers or abrasive machine techniques that can introduce metallic harshness, Analog Relax artisans prepare each strand of vintage wire by hand. Using Tamahagane blades—the legendary high-carbon steel forged by Japanese sword smiths—craftsmen gently polish the wire surfaces to expose pure, untarnished metal. This labor-intensive process preserves the original crystalline lattice of the historical conductor, ensuring signal transfer remains completely free of grain, glare, or modern synthetic colorations.
Mellow and Soul Sound Signatures

Chapter 02

Mellow and Soul Sound Signatures

The Emotional Lead lineup features two distinct sonic profiles to match specific cartridge dynamics and musical tastes. The Mellow (AR-LW-EMOM1) edition employs AWG35 purple enameled wire from the 1910s–1930s to accentuate midrange luster, vocal breath, and piano decay. Conversely, the Soul (AR-LW-EMOS1) edition uses AWG30 silk-wound wire from the 1880s–1890s, yielding a denser, weightier soundstage with physical dynamic drive that excels on jazz pressings and classic rock records.
