EX1000 Phono Cartridge

Two-thousand-year-old Yakusugi cedar houses a high-speed ruby cantilever moving coil.

The Analog Relax EX1000 stands as a remarkable achievement in artisan moving coil design, marrying ancient organic materials with precision Japanese engineering. Built around a body hewn from protected two-thousand-year-old Yakusugi cedar, it captures the living spirit and atmospheric warmth of vintage master tapes without sacrificing modern detail retrieval. Positioned near the summit of the acclaimed EX series, the EX1000 leverages the tight grain structure and high natural resin content of its rare wooden enclosure. This traditional housing acts in acoustic synergy with an advanced ruby cantilever and pure diamond stylus profile, ensuring mechanical energy is managed naturally rather than choked by heavy metallic damping. On listening, the EX1000 reveals an astonishingly rich, tactile mid-range where vocals and acoustic instruments hang in a deep, three-dimensional soundstage. Bass is taut, elastic, and deeply grounded, while the high frequencies remain effortlessly smooth, open, and entirely free from listening fatigue.

Key Features

01

2,000-Year-Old Yakusugi Cedar Body

Carved from exceptionally rare ancient cedar from Yakushima Island, featuring ultra-tight grain structures and natural resin content for organic resonance.

02

High-Speed Ruby Cantilever

Machined from high-purity ruby to transmit groove modulations instantly and accurately to the internal generator coils.

03

Super Curve Line Contact Ver. 2 Stylus

A proprietary pure diamond multi-angle profile that extracts maximum micro-details while suppressing surface noise and inner-groove distortion.

04

Hand-Finished Beeswax Treatment

Treated exclusively with natural beeswax to allow the tonewood body to breathe and resonate freely, evolving gracefully over time.

The Story of Yakusugi Cedar

Chapter 01

The Story of Yakusugi Cedar

The housing of the EX1000 is forged from irreplaceable lumber harvested from ancient Yakusugi cedars growing on Japan's Yakushima Island. Surviving severe mountain weather over millennia, these trees develop exceptionally dense growth rings and high natural resin density. With official logging bans fully protecting these forests, only legally recovered ancient fallen timber can be utilized. Analog Relax harnesses this extraordinary tonewood because its cellular structure and natural cavity resonance impart an organic warmth and harmonic complexity that synthetic polymers and modern alloys simply cannot replicate.
Precision Generator Topology

Chapter 02

Precision Generator Topology

Beneath the wooden exterior lies a meticulously engineered moving coil mechanism. The rigid ruby cantilever couples directly to a multi-neodymium magnet array and high-purity copper coils, ensuring rapid signal transmission with minimal magnetic loss. Every cartridge is hand-assembled and individually voiced by master artisans in Japan, guaranteeing exceptional channel separation, precise phase alignment, and long-term mechanical reliability.
