By transformer-coupling the 814 directly to the grid of the 845 using an ultra-wide-bandwidth inter-stage transformer, the amplifier avoids resistive-capacitive coupling entirely, ensuring absolute transient speed and phase coherence. To power this architecture, each chassis houses dual toroidal transformers rated at over 900VA, feeding ground-choke filtered supplies and energy banks exceeding 4,000 joules per channel. The highly sensitive directly heated filaments are powered by triple-filtered direct current via pi-section filter networks, rendering hum and electrical noise virtually unmeasurable.
