Inside the Impera Reference, a completely re-engineered active element changes the fundamental rules of tube amplification. Unlike a traditional vacuum tube where electron flow is impeded by a grid, the proprietary Inverted Triode accelerates electrons towards a wire-grid anode, while a surrounding plate structure pushes them away. This radical topology allows the tube to operate with a fraction of unity gain, resulting in near-zero input capacitance, vastly lower internal resistance, and an exceptional output bandwidth of 2Hz to 500kHz. Positioned as the foundational model within the elite Impera lineage, the Reference maintains an uncompromising approach to power and signal integrity. It houses its robust AC power transformer in a dedicated small external enclosure to eliminate mechanical and electrical interference. The audio signal itself is managed purely through magnetics; volume attenuation is achieved via a bespoke multi-tap input transformer featuring 26 relay-switched taps, bypassing the sonic degradation of resistive potentiometers entirely. The Inverted Triode Revolution

The Impera Reference discards conventional vacuum tube architecture in favour of the Inverted Triode. In a standard tube, the electron stream is physically impeded by a negative grid. Aries Cerat’s design removes this obstacle, instead utilising an enveloping plate structure to shadow the electrical field. This creates an active element with a plate resistance one hundred times lower than a 6SN7 tube and five times the power bandwidth of a classic 300B.

Instead of employing resistive volume potentiometers that compress dynamic range, the Impera Reference utilises a uniquely designed multi-tap input transformer for signal attenuation.
