BlackRaven

An uncompromising ceramic-driven floorstander engineered for absolute transparency and tube-friendly efficiency.

The BlackRaven commands the listening space with an imposing yet graceful architectural presence, instantly recognisable by its elegantly swept elliptical enclosure and pristine white driver cones. It sits proudly within Ayon Audio's Fullrange line, evolving the celebrated lineage of their early-millennium ceramic series into a decisively modern acoustic design. By advancing chassis technology and employing a streamlined low-order crossover network, Ayon engineers have achieved a notably stable impedance curve. This meticulous approach caters specifically to demanding listeners, ensuring the loudspeaker vanishes completely into the room while functioning as a compliant, effortless load for delicate triode tube amplification. Sonically, the BlackRaven is an instrument of pristine neutrality and lightning-fast transient response. Its presentation is fiercely three-dimensional, capturing the finest nuances of a recording with a light-footed, spatial grace. The bass registers remain deep, slender, and relentlessly dynamic, creating an immersive soundstage that draws the listener directly into the musical event without ever becoming fatiguing or overly analytical.

Key Features

01

Accuton ceramic driver array

The driver complement relies entirely on premium Accuton units, pairing a 30-millimetre Cell-tweeter with two 173-millimetre ceramic bass-midrange cones for vanishingly low distortion.

02

Instrument-grade plywood cabinet

Moving away from conventional medium-density fibreboard, the elliptical enclosure is crafted from multiple bonded layers of resonance-optimised instrument plywood. This design mimics the acoustic behaviour of a fine stringed instrument.

03

Audiophile crossover network

Fitted with premium Mundorf components, the simple acoustic filter incorporates specially produced impedance bass coils. A switchable bass boost allows for precise matching with various tube amplifier characteristics.

04

High-efficiency topology

Boasting a 92-decibel sensitivity rating and a benign 4-ohm impedance, the BlackRaven extracts profound dynamic swings from low-powered amplification. It is an ideal counterpart for single-ended triode amplifiers.

The Ceramic Legacy

Chapter 01

The Ceramic Legacy

The BlackRaven represents the consistent advancement of Ayon's acclaimed ceramic loudspeaker lineage. By revisiting the core concepts of their earlier models with a decade of fresh insight, Ayon's engineers developed a radically improved architecture. The implementation of modern Accuton Cell technology allows the upper cone to flawlessly cover the entire spectrum from deep bass up to the tweeter crossover point, leaving the lower driver to solely reinforce the lowest octaves.
Instrument Grade Construction

Chapter 02

Instrument Grade Construction

Unlike mass-market designs that rely on heavily damped, high-mass materials, Ayon treats the loudspeaker cabinet as an active acoustic element. The enclosure is meticulously layered from specialised instrument plywood, formed into an elongated elliptical shape to eliminate internal standing waves and minimise edge diffraction. The deliberate lack of heavy internal damping allows the cabinet to breathe, releasing acoustic energy quickly and naturally rather than storing it and smearing time-domain performance. Premium binding posts and custom internal wiring ensure an uncorrupted signal path from the amplifier to the drivers.
Uncompromising Neutrality

Chapter 03

Uncompromising Neutrality

In the listening space, the BlackRaven disappears with startling ease, replacing the physical towers with a vast holographic image. Its monitor-like resolution reveals the absolute truth of a recording, exposing subtle ambient cues and the finest textural details with pristine clarity. Despite its analytical capabilities, the sound profile possesses a natural fluidity that prevents listener fatigue. The low-frequency response is uniquely agile, providing an articulate rhythmic foundation without bloating the room, ensuring that both large orchestral works and intimate jazz trios are reproduced with lifelike scale.
