Lynx MK2

A masterpiece of miniature scale, delivering grand Italian sound from solid timber.

The Lynx MK2 proves that true audiophile presence does not require imposing cabinet dimensions. As the entry point to Chario's acclaimed Constellation MK2 line, this compact monitor is purposefully scaled for intimate listening spaces between six and fourteen square metres. It avoids the dry, analytical presentation common to small monitors, instead opting for a rich, organically cohesive musical picture. By matching a substantial 38mm soft-dome tweeter with a custom 130mm paper compound woofer, Chario achieves an remarkably low 1500 Hz crossover point. This positioning shifts the crossover network completely outside our ears' most sensitive frequency zone, keeping vocals fluid and entirely free of phase-induced strain. Its sonic signature is characterized by an unforced, relaxed clarity with an incredibly airy top end that remains civilised even during extended listening. Bass lines are rendered with a surprising, tuneful elasticity that relies on fluid speed rather than artificial mid-bass emphasis, allowing the speakers to completely disappear within the soundstage.

Key Features

01

Oversized T38 Soft Dome Tweeter

The unique 38mm fabric dome utilizes a custom waveguide to achieve exceptional off-axis dispersion and handles low frequencies down to the 1500 Hz crossover without ferrofluid.

02

Natural Response System (NRS)

A proprietary down-firing bass-reflex geometry that exploits floor boundaries to increase low-frequency efficiency while regulating internal port pressure below audible turbulence thresholds.

03

Dual-Material Compound Cabinet

Features a dense High-Density Fibreboard core wrapped in massive, decoupling solid walnut side panels to damp mechanical resonances better than standard MDF enclosures.

04

Calibrated Vibration-Damping Feet

Customized rubber decoupling isolation pucks are integrated directly into the base of the cabinet, ensuring the exact distance needed for the NRS port to load the room perfectly.

Chapter 01

Cabinet Architecture

True to Chario's heritage, the Lynx MK2 cabinet is constructed as a high-mass acoustic instrument. The central chassis is formed from ultra-dense High-Density Fibreboard (HDF), a material composed of resin and wood fibres that exhibits far superior internal damping characteristics compared to typical particle boards. To this rigid core, substantial panels of sustainably sourced solid Italian walnut are structurally applied, providing non-uniform mass distribution that scatters internal standing waves and prevents cabinet coloration from clouding the mid-band.

Chapter 02

Domestic Integration

Unlike studio monitors that require extensive room treatments to perform predictably, the Lynx MK2 is mathematically optimized for real-world living environments. The down-firing NRS port architecture relies on predictable floor boundary reflections rather than highly variable rear-wall distances. This makes the speaker exceptionally forgiving of placement, allowing it to maintain a rock-solid stereo image and balanced low-frequency energy even when positioned relatively close to walls or integrated into multi-functional living areas.

Chapter 03

Listening Notes

On the track, the speaker exhibits a natural, relaxed presentation that favours emotional communication and timber accuracy over clinical detail-stripping. Acoustic instruments, particularly grand piano, cello, and close-miked vocals, are presented with convincing weight and physical texture. The high frequencies possess an abundance of air and delicate shimmer without ever becoming etched, bright, or fatiguing, making the speaker highly rewarding for low-volume evening listening sessions.
