Pegasus MK2

Authoritative three-way grandeur, blending physical slam with an organic, liquid midrange.

The Pegasus MK2 represents the muscular, uncompromising zenith of Chario's foundational loudspeaker range. Engineered specifically for rooms extending past fifteen square metres, this imposing floorstander is sculpted to handle extreme micro-dynamics and explosive transient swings without structural strain. It sits comfortably at the top of the line, providing an unrestricted presentation of acoustic scale that smaller monitors simply cannot replicate. Its complex three-way design is structurally optimized to divide acoustic labour with mathematical precision. High frequencies are governed by Chario's signature 38mm soft dome, while a dedicated front-facing 170mm paper compound woofer isolates the critical mid-band. Low-frequency fundamentals are handled entirely by an autonomous, downward-firing 170mm subwoofer that functions as a dedicated engine for the first eighth of the audio spectrum. Sonic performance is defined by a deep, palpable physical weight that remains impeccably balanced against a natural, glowing midrange. The speaker acts with an innate elasticity, delivering a massive, multi-layered stereo image that completely floats free of the hand-fitted timber enclosures. Treble frequencies are intentionally civilised, yielding an open, non-fatiguing presentation that remains deeply immersive across any musical genre.

Key Features

01

Integrated Dedicated Subwoofer

A secondary, downward-firing 170mm paper compound driver is isolated to handle frequencies below 170 Hz, significantly reducing mechanical stress on the front midrange driver.

02

Near Reflective Surface (NRS) Loading

By utilizing the supporting floor boundary as an acoustic loading device, the low-frequency system achieves a 3 dB efficiency gain while halving diaphragm excursion to lower harmonic distortion.

03

Oversized T38 Waveguide Tweeter

The massive 38mm fabric dome utilizes a custom profile to dictate a precise 60-degree dispersion pattern, allowing for an incredibly low 1500 Hz crossover point completely outside human vocal sensitivity.

04

Total Isolation Binding Posts

Premium gold-plated terminals are housed within a protective transparent cage and structurally decoupled via two rubber O-rings and a dense resin plate to prevent mechanical vibration transfer.

Chapter 01

Acoustic Architecture

The interior of the Pegasus MK2 is a complex exercise in resonance control and driver isolation. Unlike standard floorstanders that allow drivers to share internal air volume, Chario utilizes strict mathematical optimization algorithms to define separate internal loading chambers. The front-firing midrange driver is physically partitioned from the lower subwoofer, ensuring that the heavy back-wave air pressure generated by deep bass lines cannot modulate the delicate, micro-dynamic movements of the vocal reproduction array.

Chapter 02

Artisanal Enclosure Integrity

Every Pegasus MK2 cabinet is handcrafted using seasoned solid Italian walnut sections wrapped around an ultra-dense High-Density Fibreboard (HDF) central core. The contrasting material masses act as a natural mechanical filter, effectively scattering internal standing waves. Furthermore, the sweeping curves, beveled edges, and precise joinery are not merely cosmetic flourishes; they are calculated geometric profiles designed to minimize edge diffraction and optimize off-axis energy distribution throughout the room.

Chapter 03

Listening Notes

In the listening chair, the Pegasus MK2 displays a rare combination of muscular slam and delicate, velvety realism. When handling large-scale orchestral arrangements or driving bass rhythms, the low end presents a palpable physicality that can be felt as much as heard, yet it never bleeds into or clouds the higher registers. Vocals are rendered with an engaging, holographic presence, capturing the natural grit of brass instruments and the breathing nuances of vocalists across a wide, highly organized stereophonic soundstage.
