Stogi Ref 313
Twelve inches of uncompromising precision for the most demanding vinyl playback.
The Stogi Ref 313 represents the peak of the Stogi gimbal lineage, combining an extended 12-inch effective length with a suite of advanced mechanical refinements. By increasing the arm length, it achieves superior tracking geometry, significantly reducing lateral distortion across the record surface compared to standard 9-inch designs.
At its core, this tonearm utilizes high-precision ceramic ball bearings, selected for their ability to withstand heavy loads while maintaining near-zero friction and noise. This stability is complemented by a conical arm tube machined from solid aluminium, which is internally damped and split into two segments to facilitate a precise, worm-drive azimuth adjustment mechanism.
One of its most distinct innovations is the hexagonal-locking detachable headshell. This system allows for the convenience of swapping cartridges without compromising the structural rigidity or resonance control typically associated with a fixed-shell design.
Sonically, the Stogi Ref 313 is celebrated for its poise, authority, and transparency. It provides an exceptionally stable platform that allows the cartridge to extract maximum detail, delivering a wide soundstage and a natural, balanced tonal character that remains unflappable even during complex musical crescendos.
Key Features
01
Ceramic ball bearings
High-precision, vacuum-sealed ceramic bearings provide extremely low starting friction and exceptional durability.
02
Rigid detachable headshell
A unique hexagonal locking system ensures the convenience of a detachable shell with the structural integrity of a fixed design.
03
Worm-drive azimuth adjustment
A silicone-damped worm-drive mechanism allows for fine, repeatable azimuth tuning with zero play.
04
12-inch geometry
The extended length reduces tracking error and inner-groove distortion for a more refined playback experience.
Chapter 01
Engineering Philosophy
The Stogi Ref 313 is built upon the requirement for total mechanical stability. By employing high-mass construction from solid metal blocks and damping internal resonances, the design ensures that every micro-vibration generated by the stylus is effectively managed, leaving only the signal path clear for the music.
Chapter 02
Build and Materials
Every element, from the conical arm tube to the massive mounting base, is machined to exacting tolerances. The use of aluminium and brass, combined with glued and pre-loaded bearing assemblies, creates a platform that is effectively inert, preventing the arm from adding its own colouration to the performance.
Chapter 03
Listening Notes
Listeners will find the performance to be authoritative and remarkably quiet. The 12-inch geometry allows for a more relaxed, open presentation, while the precision of the ceramic bearings ensures that transient attacks are handled with speed and natural weight.
