Sonora

Danish artistry delivering a vivid, natural, and effortless live music experience.

The Sonora serves as the elegant entry point to the Peak Consult range, proving that true high-fidelity performance does not require an overwhelming presence. Despite its slim dimensions, this two-way floorstander is crafted with the same uncompromising manufacturing rigour as the brand's largest flagship models, ensuring a compelling and authoritative performance that belies its modest scale. Positioned for the discerning music lover, the Sonora thrives in diverse acoustic environments. By employing a high-performance passive bass radiator instead of a traditional reflex port, the design achieves a deeper and more precise low-frequency response while maintaining remarkable dynamic balance. This approach avoids the common pitfalls of cabinet turbulence, resulting in a tight, natural sound that remains musical and engaging across all genres. The acoustic character is defined by its exceptional clarity and phase coherence. The slanted front baffle and time-aligned driver configuration create a broad, holographic soundstage that allows the speakers to effectively disappear, leaving only the pure, uncoloured essence of the music. Whether reproducing the subtle textures of a jazz performance or the full-scale dynamics of modern recordings, the Sonora delivers a natural, live-like presence without fatigue.

Key Features

01

Passive radiator system

A 200mm rear-firing auxiliary bass radiator delivers deeper, more accurate low-frequency extension without the turbulent airflow issues of traditional ports.

02

Peak Linear Impedance Control (PLIC)

This advanced crossover technology levels the impedance curve, ensuring the speaker remains an easy and stable load for any high-quality amplifier.

03

Sand-filled crossover chamber

The crossover network is housed in a sealed, sand-filled chamber to eliminate microphonic effects and protect sensitive components from thermal or mechanical vibration.

04

Inert multi-layer cabinet

Constructed from multiple layers of high-density fibreboard and bonded with specialised acoustic adhesives to transform structural resonance into heat.

Chapter 01

Manufacturing Process

The Sonora is built to an exacting standard, featuring a cabinet where walls are intentionally non-parallel to disrupt internal standing waves. The exterior combines the organic beauty of solid hardwood with inset acrylic side panels, while the front and rear baffles are finished in genuine leather to further dampen diffraction. Every cabinet is assembled using four different adhesives, each selected for specific mechanical damping properties to ensure the structure remains utterly inert.

Chapter 02

Acoustic Geometry

To achieve perfect time and phase alignment, the front baffle is sloped backwards, placing the tweeter and 150mm mid-bass driver in precise physical orientation. This geometry, combined with the carefully contoured baffle edges, minimises sound diffraction, resulting in a three-dimensional stereo image that extends well beyond the physical boundaries of the speakers.

Chapter 03

Listening Notes

Listeners can expect a presentation that prioritises timbral purity and emotional engagement. The Sonora does not force the music upon the listener; rather, it unfolds the recording with effortless airiness and brilliant decay. From delicate vocal nuances to the agile, rhythmic punch of a bass line, the performance is consistently balanced, making it a perfect companion for long, immersive listening sessions.
